“I want to make essential clothing that isn’t ordinary,” says Daniel DuGoff of his line DDUGOFF, which launched last season. It’s a brand that elevates the easy-to-wear basics — familiar shapes like a button-down shirt or a T-shirt in unusual fabrics or unconventional prints — for the guy who lives casually. For his second season, DuGoff, who originally studied architecture and worked for Patrik Ervell when he moved to New York, was inspired by an image of an outer-space nebula, as well as by grids — the imaginary lines used to navigate through space. “The grid is rigid,” DuGoff says, “but when you wear a grid, it falls apart. It wraps around your body, folds and becomes abstracted.” But in the end, it’s still a casual T-shirt, a straightforward garment that can fit into any guy’s wardrobe.
