Brookes Boswell Millinery
Brooklyn is home to a very large and diverse group of individuals who despite the odds have begun a resurgence of traditional local craftsmanship. We’ve had the great pleasure this Spring of working with Brookes Boswell out of her Vinegar Hill Millinery. Where she produces hats and accessories that mix functional detailing with a classic aesthetic.Brookes apprenticed under Kelly Christy, one of the city’s longtime milliners, her background is in architectural design, fine art and textiles, she opened her own studio in 2009.
The Goose Barnacle fedora is made for a day in the sun. Panama straw fabric and a medium brim make it prefect for all your summer city wanderings. These straw hats are handwoven in Equador by local artisans and finished with a hand knotted piece of vegetable dyed rawhide. Currently available in three sizes (S,M,L) we are also proud to offer Made-to-Measure custom sizes in store only. If you are interested in ordering a custom size please note that custom hats are made entirely from scratch and it will take approximately 2 – 4 weeks to complete, the end result being a hat that fits like it was originally created just for you.
